Endowment

Create a Lasting Legacy

Established in 2008 with a gift of $1.5 Million from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, the SCEF endowment fund has provided over $900,000 to the San Carlos School District supporting programs dedicated to health, wellness, and physical fitness. A strong endowment ensures continuity and stability. Our exemplary stewardship of donations to our endowed fund and prudent financial management ensures that we maintain a self-perpetuating fund. A strong endowment will help protect our annual grant to the school district from budget cuts and economic cycles of boom and bust.

Ways to Leave Your Own Legacy

  • Donate or Pledge:  A direct gift or multi-year pledge to the endowment campaign is tax-deductible

  • Stock Donations:  A gift of stock has many tax advantages. Donating stock directly to the endowment fund can easily increase the impact of your donation.

  • Planned Gifts:  Consider leaving a legacy gift to benefit SCEF.  You can make a bequest or estate gift, name SCEF as the beneficiary of your IRA account or Life Insurance, or consider a variety of planned giving options.  Ask your attorney or tax accountant about planned giving options.

“The idea of funding the endowment appeals to me because it can help provide the San Carlos School District with improved financial stability of the long term, and also increases the length of the impact of my donation. This is important given the vicissitudes in state funding and the fact that over time many people move on to donating to other organizations as their children progress through their education.”
Dan Elkes, one of the generous donors to the Endowment Campaign
