About the event

The Read-A-Thon is a free 14-day program (January 15-29, 2026) that celebrates reading while raising funds for San Carlos School District schools. Participation is free and encouraged.


NOTE: While registration and fundraising starts now, only minutes read between Jan. 15-29, 2026 count toward the Read-a-Thon minutes read tracker and Activity Badges & Prizes. And, you must join the fundraiser for each reader in your household if they want their minutes to count.

Registration Instructions:



Desktop/Laptop (For screenshot directions - click here)

  1. Visit scefkids.beanstack.org on mobile or desktop device

  2. Under Create an account, select “Register an Individual or Family

  3. On the next page, select “I am an adult registering a child” 

  4. Enter the adult’s nameemail and create a password. Scroll down to enter a reader by adding their nameage and school.

  5. To register additional readers, continue to add each child by adding their name, age and school. 

  6. Once all readers have been added, click “Join Fundraiser” atthe bottom right of the reader homepage. This will take you to the SCEF/PTA Read-A-Thon fundraiser pop-up. Click “Join Fundraiser” one more time to confirm registration. 

  7. For additional readers, navigate to the reader name in the upper right hand corner and then “Join Fundraiser” as described above for each child. 

  8. You may now view each reader’s donation page that you can share with family and friends. Click the “share this” button to copy the URL to send via text or email, or post to social platforms.

  1. Download the Beanstack mobile app (recommended)

  2. From the homepage, click “find your school or library” and search for “SCEF

  3. Click the “sign up” link

  4. After entering your first and last nameemail, and password, then click “add a reader

  5. Enter each child as a reader by adding their nameage and school/teacher. 

  6. Once all readers have been added, click “I am done adding readers

  7. Click the “Home” button in the bottom left corner and click “Join Fundraiser”. This will take you to the SCEF/PTA Read-A-Thon fundraiser page. Click “Join Fundraiser” one more time to confirm registration. 

  8. For additional readers, navigate to the reader name in the upper right hand corner and “Join Fundraiser” as described above for each child. 

  9. You may now view each reader’s donation page that you can share with family and friends. Click the “share this” button to copy the URL to send via text or email, or post to social platforms.
